A position belongs to a moment.
When a tracker reports a location, it describes where the device was at that observation. A marker that stays on screen is not a fresh confirmation that the person is still there. Read the last-update time alongside the sharing state.
Why updates can pause.
A device may lose connectivity, run low on battery, have sharing stopped or have its location permissions changed. Background restrictions can also affect updates. The viewer may have a connection problem of its own.
Three checks before you draw a conclusion.
- Time: how old is the displayed location?
- State: is the tracker actively sharing, stopped or unavailable?
- Connection: does the tracked device have permission, power and network access?
Reconnecting is different from being live.
Supported trackers can retain route points during a connection gap. Those points may help reconstruct a journey after reconnection, but they were not visible to other people in real time. A recovered route and a fresh live location answer different questions.
Make the next step a human one.
If something looks unexpected, use your usual family check-in plan. Navioa does not confirm that a person is safe and is not a monitored emergency service. For app troubleshooting, use the checks in our help guide.
